Holistic Solopreneur

Case Study for Holistic Solopreneur

Yah!  Starting about a month ago, I decided that I wanted to step it up a notch or ten and really get busy with small business coaching.  I had a very specific group of people in mind… people I know that I love to work with and people that really want to spread their message around the world.

Who are these wonderful people you might ask…  well they are Holistic Practitioners.  I love the diversity in the group, so many modalities, so many interesting prospectives on life and really so much love and respect.   Who wouldn’t want to work in that environment!

First thing I did was put together a survey to find out exactly where your biggest challenges were.  The results of the survey were:

  • Email and Newsletters
  • Blogging. WordPress and Web Design
  • Social Media and Social Networking
  • Increasing Income

Then I got to work on setting everything up.   So here we are!

Now I didn’t just want to be one of those people that talks and talks about how to do things, I want to show!   Break down the processes and show you step by step.  AND I want to show you that I “walk the walk”.  Starting today, I will be tracking the process of this specific blog as I go.  You will see the action steps and the results.   Sound good?   Great!

What metrics?

There are a lot of different statistics you can follow to make sure that you are getting things done, but there are only a few the really matter…  Are you reaching people and are you increasing your income?  okay okay I know that is a very simplistic view of things, but we don’t need to go too crazy, we just need to know we are making forward progress.

The list of metrics I am going to use and demonstrate are:

  • Google Analytics – How many people are coming to your website and  how are they finding you?
  • Hubspot’s Website Grader – General Marketing effectiveness
  • Newsletter & RSS Subscriptions – how many people are you staying in touch with?
  • Income – how much money are you making?

I am going to start with the initial ranking and numbers today as of  May 1, 2011.  And over the next month I will work through setting up some realistic goals and an action plan to move forward.

Here are the Numbers

Google Analytics – I bought the domain on and set up tracking on April 3rd.

Hubspot’s Website Grader – May 4/5, 2011

Newsletter & RSS Subscriptions – May 4, 2011

Income – Well that will come once we get everything else in place.

The trick here is to put in the time, create quality work that you are proud of and that adds great value to your potential clients.  So we are not going to make goals of  the most sign-ups in a month or anything like that.  They will be reasonable, doable and measurable.

Goals for May

  • Create a high value ebook and ecourse that can be given away as an incentive for signing up to the newsletter
  • Create weekly high value blog articles that are sent out via the newsletter system
  • Increase visitors to the website by 10%

As we start moving along we will get more specific and more focused on important areas of the website and the business as a whole.
