The Famous 5 Minute WordPress Install
WordPress is well known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you.
The web hosting we are going to be using for this course is “managed WordPress hosting” which means the web hosting company provides all the required software and maintains it.
Step 1 – Open a web browser and go to your web site by typing your domain address in the address bar. Example: http://www.yourname.wp-clique.com
Step 2 – Get Ready to Install WordPress
Type the Site Title of your website or blog
Do not change the Username
Type your Password Twice
Type Your Email Address *make sure this is an active email, it is used for notifications and password resets.
Remove the check mark from the section – “Allow my site to appear in search engines like Google and Technorati.” * don’t worry we will turn this back on later when you are ready for visitors.
Step 3 – Click Install WordPress
This will only take a minute or two. When the install is complete you will see the initial username and password appear on the screen, this information has also been sent to the email address you entered on the install step.
