Physical Self Care

I believe that it is important to look at Self Care from a wholistic point of view.  We are multifaceted people and we need to look at all areas of our lives.

Physical activity is not just for our physical health but also our emotional and mental health.   I don’t know how many times I have found my way to a important decision or epiphany through a really intense exercise session!

Healthy living, including healthy eating and exercise is a very important part of a nurturing Self Care practice.

Most common examples:

  • swimming
  • walking
  • cycling
  • strength training
  • eating nutrient rich raw foods
  • maintaining fat and cholesterol intake
  • managing allergies and physical health issues
  • regular visits with our medical doctor and dental professional

If you are new to physical self care, take it slowly!  Start with 5-10 minutes a day and then work up to 30+ minutes.

In my own personal practices I started with walking, walking is gentle and easy to do. You just need a great pair of walking shoes or runners.   Once I was feeling great about walking, I started riding my bike.  Once I was feeling good about riding my bike, I started swimming.

Swimming would be a great place to start if you want to with a low impact way to start out.

It really doesn’t matter what you choose to do, only that you start!  Start today, get your walking shoes out and walk round the block.
